Jeanne Dumestre, NP, is a nurse practitioner in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her past appointments include positions in the HIV Outpatient Program (HOP), Maternal Child Clinic of the Louisiana State University Health Science Center; Sexual Assault Nurse Manager at the Medical Center of Louisiana; and Clinical Specialist in HIV/AIDS at Charity Hospital inĀ New Orleans. Ms. Dumestre completed her undergraduate work at Loyola University in New Orleans. She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the State University of New York in Albany and her master of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
Ms. Dumestre has received a number of awards for her clinical work, including the Nurse Practice Award for Excellence from the Louisiana State Nurses Association and the Leadership Award from TheBody.com. She is active in a number of professional organizations, including the American Nurses Association, the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, and the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care.
An invited speaker at nurse practitioner meetings across the country, Ms. Dumestre has lectured extensively on various topics in infectious disease and sexual health. She has co-authored numerous original articles on the topic of HIV/AIDS in such peer-reviewed journals as Sexually Transmitted Diseases, the Journal of Microbiology, and the Journal of Medical Virology.
